The first article from Current Research in Digital History that I focused on was the Geo Locating Census Miro-data: Segregation, Clustering, and Residential Behaviors of Migrant Communities in London, 1881–1911 which can be found here. In this article James Perry studies the settlement of foreign-born migrant communities in London. He was funded by the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media Directors Fund, and used data from the Integrated Census Micro Data collected by UK Data Services. Perry argues that individualized mapping process can reveal distinct settlement patters within migrant communities, and that this demonstrates that migrants were highly mobile. He concludes that migrant groups to London's East end pursued different models of assimilation, for example subset one rapidly gained a large migrant population and exhibited strong segregationist behavior and subset 2 was dominated by Native born populations.
